I will be placing at least one picture on here, Tweeting it/them, and also placing it on my Facebook page. I hope that this will give some inspiration. I have several already, mostly taken by me, but also a few by friends that I have. I may also peruse stock images. Anyway, I hope they help!
I ran across this last night: http://www.literatureandlatte.com/nanowrimo.php For NaNoWriMo2014, Scrivener has a special trial download. And like last year for NaNoWriMo winners, there will be a 50% discount. This seems like a very good time to download it.
Late last year, I bought Scrivener. I find it to be a wonderful program that is rather intuitive. Here are some screenshots from it.
Once you click on ‘Fiction’, you are presented with these different options. I have only used ‘Novel’, but from perusing through, it seems to be quite similar. Clicking on novel, brings up this page:
This page shows the novel format and how to compile into different formats. To the left, there is a menu with manuscripts, chapters, scenes, characters, places, front matter, research, templates, and trash. The front matter includes the title page. Research keeps track of any information needed so it is easy to find. Templates can be downloaded and comes with a character and settings template. Clicking on the template sheets shows both the character and setting template.
Click on the character template and you will find this:
Either of these can be copied and pasted as you add text under characters and places. As shown below (research screenshot is also included):
Another useful item is under tools. Here you’ll find a name generator. There are many different origins that you can use to generate a name and whether the character is male or female. The names can be added to a shortlist too. I have played with the function and it seems to be handy.
NaNoWriMo stands for National Novel Writing Month. It occurs every November. The goal for participants is to write 50,000 words in one month. Their website can be found at http://nanowrimo.org/ I participated last year and managed to get above the 50,000 words so I am trying again this year. There is a lot of support and it is a lot of fun. My username there is cddennis.
